BDOS 30-Lesson Curriculum

Each lesson usually includes

  • A warm-up or technique video
  • A recurring practice like Drum Stick Yoga or Limber Up
  • A Copy Cat or rhythm-reading
  • A beat breakdown, groove, or fun challenge
  • A cover song to finish strong

The 5 parts

  • Part 1: Foundations (Lessons 1–6)
Sounds, strokes, and your first cover songs
  • Part 2: Building Skills (Lessons 7–12)
Stick control, flams, paradiddles, and rhythm reading
  • Part 3: Deeper Grooves (Lessons 13–18)
8th notes, 16th notes, reggaeton, tresillo, and hip hop
  • Part 4: Grooves & Voicings (Lessons 19–24)
Call & response, improvisation, Latin styles, and making your own beats
  • Part 5: Bringing It All Together (Lessons 25–30)
Composition, bigger covers, and a final showcase

Good to know

  • Some songs come in different levels, so both beginners and more advanced players can use this curriculum
  • A few exercises return at least once for reinforcement
  • Quizzes (Notation, Reading Rhythms, Equipment & Parts, Note Duration) are placed roughly every 4–6 lessons as quick assessment checkpoints
  • The last lesson brings back We Will Rock You to celebrate how far you’ve come! This lesson works great as a mini performance or class showcase.

Hope this helps!
